Petoskey 2nd Quarter Real Estate Sales Retrace to 2003 Levels

Sales of Petoskey homes and condominiums in the second quarter of 2006 retraced to levels not seen since 2003. Fueled by historically low interest rates and a strong Michigan economy, Petoskey second quarter residential sales peaked in 2004 at 88 units, from 73 units in 2003. A weak Michigan economy and higher interest rates dampened sales in the second quarters of 2005 and 2006. The second quarter of 2005 saw 76 sales, while 73 units sold in the second quarter of 2006, matching the number of sales in 2003.

Note: Based on information from the Northern Michigan MLS for the periods from April 1 through June 30, 2003-2006.
