New Charlevoix Public Library Amazing!

I stopped by to check out the new Charlevoix Public Library recently. The grand opening for the new library was held on October 7th. The new library is incredible. The main reading room is very impressive, with large book stacks, desks, abundant computer stations and comfortable chairs. There are all sorts of other rooms, including a Michigan collection, a Children's reading room, activity center and garden, and a cozy reading room for newspapers and magazines, complete with stained glass lamps, wingback chairs, and gas fireplace.

What a treasure for generations of Charlevoix residents to come! Congratulations Charlevoix on your new library!

Stefan,

Wow, nice library! Congratulations!

Does it remind you at all of the Law library at UM? (The part that is not underground.)

One other question; where did the Groucho Marx quote come from?

Also, I've got my blog up. I'm using Wordpress. http://annarbormichiganrealestate.com

Jon,

Thanks for your comment. The great room at the new Charlevoix Public Library did bring back some memories of my time spent studying in the main reading room at the old U of M Law Library, although it would surely be difficult to recreate an architectural masterpiece such as that in this day and age.

I found the Groucho Marx quote on Google, using a search for "public library quotes". Not very original, but it worked nonetheless.

Thanks for the link to your blog. I checked it out briefly and it looked like it was chock full of very useful information.

That is a super look library. I think that it is great that they have invested extra (comfortable chairs, gas fire) into making use of the library a pleasurable experience. Too many libraries focus on "value for money" as expressed in number of books and in number of chairs. However, somethings like actually enjoying the research and learning experience of a libary are just as valuable, even if they are harder to measure.
