Detroit News Feature Article on Northern Michigan Real Estate

In case you missed it, the Detroit News ran an interesting feature article on the Northern Michigan real estate market. Basically, the article points out that there is a lot more real estate inventory available at this time than in past years. Increased supply coupled with weak demand has led to some softness in the Northern Michigan real estate market, especially in outlying areas not near tourism hot beds such as Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix, Harbor Springs and Boyne City.

I expect that the Northen Michigan real estate market will beome softer as our state economy continues to spiral downhill. The lost manufacturing jobs in Michigan are not being replaced, the jobs are moving down south in states that are less expensive to do business and proactively structuring winning tax plans for business growth. Governor Granholm needs to address business growth and job losses to other states.
Michigan has become a very expensive state to do business in. If the economy remains flat and sinking the luxury real estate market in Northern Michigan can also be expected to take a downturn.

What is Governor Jennifer Granholm doing for Michigan's future?
